West Kilbride – Covid 19 Safety Policy

Updated 21/08/20

This policy should be read in conjunction with Scottish Golf guidelines which can be found at https://scottishgolf.org/phase-3-guidance-for-golf-clubs-and-golfers-in-scotland/.  The Club will comply with Scottish Golf guidelines and will always consider safety first.  We will also ensure that sufficient Covid 19 information will be provided to members, and that appropriate posters and signage are in place.

We will maintain strong communication links with all members ensuring they are kept up to date and achieve their full cooperation.  A thorough risk assessment has been and will continue to be undertaken for the Club, our Prevention and Control Procedures can be viewed on our website and appropriate measures have put in place to ensure members and staff are protected.

Covid Officer:   Graham MacKenzie

Health and Safety

Please do not come to the Club if you are showing signs of Covid 19.

Golfers are advised to bring their own sanitisers but sanitiser stations are also situation throughout the clubhouse.

All common touch points will be cleaned regularly.

Clubhouse Facilities

The Clubhouse has been reconfigured to maintain physical distancing.

Current guidance on meeting others indoors allows for up to 8 people from up to 3 households to meet, with physical distancing in place.  If meeting outdoors, up to 15 people from up to 5 households can meet, with physical distancing in place.

The bar is open and the kitchen re-opens on Monday 24th August.

Toilet facilities will be open however changing room, showers and lockers not in use.  Toilet facilities will be maintained within hygiene guideline set out by the government.

The Dirty Bar remains closed.

A ‘one way’ system is in operation.

It is essential that the configuration of furniture is not changed in any way since it has been designed to provide best use of space with safe distancing in mind.

We are required to keep a temporary record of our customers for 21 days so please provide your name and a contact phone number when asked to by a member of staff.

Course

Tee-times should be managed and booked in advance – there should be no turn up and play allowed.

Members and visitors are still required to change their shoes at their car and not use the locker room.

The course should be accessed via the tunnel at the 1st tee.  Players should leave the 18th green towards the lower car park.

The flagstick should remain in the hole at all times.

A foam insert will be used to modify the depth of the hole to allow players to remove the ball without the flagstick.  The ball will be considered holed if any part comes to rest below the surface of the putting green, even if it is not lodged against the flagstick.

As Scottish Golf’s Guidance on the return to golf in Scotland recommends the removal of rakes from bunkers, players are requested to smooth bunkers using either their foot or a club after playing their stroke.  Preferred lies will apply in bunkers until further notice (MLR E-3).  The relief area permitted is 6 inches from the reference point. Note – the area may not be smoothed before placing.

All course furniture has been removed or covered up.
